I want to know who you are.  I want to understand you and I want you totell me all about yourself, but there’s ONLY ONE LITTLE catch — you only have six words.  Nothing  more.

What do your six words tell me about you? What if you had 25 words or 100 words? The more words I read about you, the more I would learn.

The same is true for our walk with the Lord. In six words the Lord tells us about his love for us: “For God so loved the world” (John 3:16), but there is more to the story of redemption. We have to read more, to learn more.

As we read on in John 3:16 we learn how God acted on His love for us—He gave His one and only Son. Now we begin to understand a little more about the character of God. We understand that His love for us is far greater than we can comprehend. Can you imagine giving your only child over to a painful death so others could live? I can’t. I couldn’t do it. I wouldn’t do it.

But there’s more to learn about God in this one verse. God shows us what He is doing for us in His love “that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.” In this last part of the verse we find out that God’s love for us is eternal. He wants us with Him in eternity. In His great love for us He’s created a way that we can spend eternity in His holy presence. And we learned all of this in only 25 words. The Bible contains over 773,000 words. The more we read the Word of God, the more we learn of His character.

God gave us His Holy Word so we can know Him more.  I don’t know about you, but I don’t take advantage of the blessing that is the Bible as often as I should.

I need to make more time and take more time to know God more!
