Tonight my heart was blessed when I stepped into the sanctuary of my home church and laid eyes on two couples who mean the world to me and my family. Pat and Donna (and their sweet husbands) are precious friends and dear Christian folks. As my heart filled, I just praised the Lord for how far He’s brought me and the path He’s laid before me.
Donna, Pat, and I once served together in Women’s Ministry. When we first stated our team, I didn’t know either of them very well, just through church. But once we started working in ministry together and I got to know them – I was hooked. Pat is my pragmatic sister and Donna is my organized one. They each bring something special to the mix. Once God calls a team together He has plans for it that often reach far beyond the boundaries that we understand.
We’ve laughed together and cried together. We’ve prayed together and served together. We’ve shared some wonderful times and some sad times. We’ve seen God move in mighty ways and we’ve witnessed great sorrow in the body of Christ.
They’ve each ministered with me and to me – and I think they’ve both wanted to shake me when I made some seriously stupid mistakes. They’ve listened to my confusion and tried to talk sense into me and when I wouldn’t listen they prayed for me. And I love them for that. They continue to pray for me and I know that when I ask for prayer, they’re petitioning the Father on my behalf.
Pat and Donna are serving together on the Women’s ministry team at a sister church and I miss them. I wish I were with them or them with me. But God has other plans. So for now, we serve the body of Christ at different locations. But we’re still a team – just serving in separate places.
When God placed these women in my life, I had no idea how much they would mean to me one day. I didn’t realize that I would need a Pat and a Donna in my life – but God knew and for that I’m so thankful.
My prayer for each of you is that the Lord blesses you with a Pat and a Donna.
