I'm continually blown away by God's goodness and His amazing God-ness.
That He is the great I AM and I can approach His throne just takes me to my knees – most literally.
Today is Easter. The day we celebrate Jesus overcoming death. This is the day we celebrate the resurrection of Christ. This is the day we celebrate freedom from the sins that would sentence each of us to an eternal separation from God. This is a day about freedom, joy, mercy and grace — incredible grace!
I'm awestruck that the God of the universe deems me worthy of this great sacrifice. I'm amazed that the God who tells the sun when to rise and the stars when to shine cares enough for me to send His Son, His only Son to die on a cross for my sins. I'm humbled that Christ willingly hung on that cross in excrutiating pain for me — so I can approach the throne of Grace.
All this for me. All this for you. All this because He loves us with a love that we can't imagine. A love that is far greater than anything our minds can conceive. A love that fills me with great joy. A love this is full of mercy and grace. A love that only asks for my obedience to the One who loves me more than I can fathom.
This is love – “but God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.” Romans 5:8
I'm trying to not get caught up in the eggs and bunnies. Although I do love all the fancy Easter candy.
I want this day to be about His sacrifice and my freedom.
I want to live every day in the shadow of the Cross. I want to live each day in the victory of the resurrection. I want to always remember the sacrifice that bought my freedom. I want to remember that He paid a dear price so I could walk in freedom.
Lord, let me walk in that freedom!
Amen, sister.
“Who Am I” by Casting Crowns really sums it up:
“Not because of who I am, but because of what You’ve done. Not because of what I’ve done, but because of who You are.”
This weekend has been a great reminder of who the Lord is and what He has done for us…of the fact that who I am only really matters in the light of who God is, who I am in Him. And what I’ve done is mostly meaningless and trivial. He is. That’s all that matters.
Kaya was asking me last night who made God and how He got here. How amazing and incomprehensible that He is the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End. I can’t even wrap my mind around it.
Lovely thoughts. Hope it was a beautiful Resurrection day!
