It’s the very first day of Advent– I don’t know about you but in years past, the Advent has been more about putting out decorations, buying gifts and going to parties than about the Hope of the season.   I get caught up in the Pinterest boards for decking my halls and forget to focus on why we celebrate.  It’s more about the season and less about the reason.

Every year I start out strong with a commitment to focus on the Holy days and not the holidays.  By mid December I’m knee deep in Pinterest decorating envy and  have succumbed my credit card to the siren’s call of the ‘sale of the season.’

I was so excited with Shellie Tomlinson invited me to join her in  A Heart Wide Open Christmas.    As Shellie shares, this isn’t a challenge — it’s an invitation to walk through the twenty-five days of Advent together with a goal to keep our eyes on Jesus.  And I want to add this is a no=judgment zone, so if your focus is momentarily consumed with creating the most amazing burlap & pine bough wreath don’t worry.  Just realign your eyes on the One who pours out His grace over us.

Shellie has created prompts for each day of the Advent — in each prompt you’ll find a Scripture passage, a brief thought and an action item.  Let’s stop ‘DOING’ Christmas and let’s LIVE Christmas.

I’m joining an amazing group (Tricia Goyer, Joneal Kirby, Marybeth Whalen and of course, Shellie) of women on this journey — each of us will host five days of the Advent.  If you don’t know these ladies yet, you’ll love getting to know them.

Come along with me and these amazing women as we join Shellie in A Heart Wide Open Christmas!   Click here to read Day One —-> Day One of A Heart Wide Open Christmas
