Something super cool — Girlfriends, God, and Grace: How to Have a Great Girlfriend Adventure is on Amazon. How incredible.  It was such a shock to see my book cover up at Amazon.   It was mostly a shock since I just got word that Girlfriends, God, and Graceis the latest casualty in the economic downturn  — in other words, Thomas Nelson canceled the book.

Yep, you read that right.  The book is canceled.  After all the writing, the editing, the book covers, after all the hard work by so many the book is canceled.

Was I shocked?  Extremely.  I figured once a book got this far, it was in.  I learned different.

When I got the news, I cried — ugly crying, not just a few cute crocodile tears.  I’m talking that big, ugly snotty crying.  And then I realized that God is in control of this, as much as I don’t like it and don’t want it to be this way.  It’s His will — for His reasons. I just don’t like it and it hurts, really bad.

But I’ll hold on to the hope that has carried me this far.  Romans 15:13 — May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.

That’s what I’m praying for — hope from the Holy Spirit.  The hope that brings joy and peace.  That’s the hope that I’m hanging onto.

I know this is just another twist in this book adventure and when I think about all the people who lost their jobs with Thomas Nelson, I realized how blessed I am.  I  lost a book deal, not a career.  Puts it in perspective for me.

This whole book adventure has been such a wild ride, a roller coaster ride.  It’s been up, up, up, and then whoosh!  Down we go.  There are hairpin curves and loop backs.   I’m on the backside of one of those loops and we stopped moving. I’ll know we’ll get moving again, but until then I’m stuck.

So now the process begins again.  I’m looking for another publisher who wants a funny, quirky, relational book about real friends, godly friends and real getaway ideas and so much more.  I hope you’ll hang around while I start looking for a new publisher.  I don’t know if you’ll learn anything, but I hope you enjoy watching the process — I’m sure it will be filled with adventure and a few missteps along the way.

So, I’m concluding my personal pity party and I’m getting to work finding that new publisher.
