It’s July.
We have passed the half way mark for this year.
My word for this year is FOCUS.
I’ve had my focus stolen by the enemy. Nope. I gave it to him.
I started this year off knowing the Lord was calling me to something a bit different.
I actually wrote about it in my prayer journal. I’m not a great journaller, I have 10 entries for this year. And it’s a lot.
But I gave the enemy my focus. I GAVE it to him. He didn’t have to steal it. But he was desperately trying to destroy it. And I almost let him.
But then I remembered my calling. And I reread John 10:10 and I reclaimed my abundant life!
I turned my focus back on Jesus.
And on what He has me working on — comedy. I know! Isn’t that funny? But in the funny, strange way.
But God calls us to all manner of work. Right now, He has me working on talks filled with humor and teaching. I’m learning they aren’t mutually exclusive.
Has something stolen your focus?
Reclaim your focus today!
Know your Focus — Do you know what the Lord wants from you this season? If not, that is your focus. Praying that the Lord reveal His will to you.
Slow Down! are you moving so fast that everything is a blur? It’s impossible to focus when life is out of control. Let go of things you can and simplify things you can’t release.
Make TIME for Jesus –– when life gets crazy and out of control, prayer and quiet time fly right out of the window. Don’t let that happen! Without Jesus focus is impossible. Carve out time in your day to spend in His Word. It’s truly the living water — you can’t survive without it.
More Prayer — just because someone asks you to do something doesn’t mean you have to say yes. (And this is coming from the queen of the helium hand… my hand goes up like a helium balloon at most any request). Pray first. An opportunity may look wonderful, but will it take your focus from what the Lord has for you this year or season?
Trust God — God’s ways are not our ways. Trust His heart. He loves you more than you can even imagine. He wants to bless you, but He also sees the big picture of this life and life in Heaven. We don’t. Hold this scripture close to your heart
Trust God from the bottom of your heart;
don’t try to figure out everything on your own.
Listen for God’s voice in everything you do, everywhere you go;
he’s the one who will keep you on track.
Don’t assume that you know it all.
Run to God! Run from evil! Proverbs 3:5-7 (The Message)
Now, go reclaim that FOCUS!
Mary,
Thanks so much for your blog and especially this post. I have moved my focus to circumstances rather than Jesus. Boy! I can tell the difference. How silly I am to do something I KNOW will hurt me. My eyes are now on Him.
